Counsellor, Vancouver, BC, Art Therapist, Anxiety, Depression, Overwhelm, Stress, Empaths, HSPs
Thank you for stopping by!
First I want you to know it takes a lot of courage to reach out for support. So I want to commend you on taking this first step.
My name is Heather Hassenbein and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a Professional Art Therapist located in downtown Vancouver, BC.
People seek counselling for a variety of reasons. Sometimes people come in for a quick check-in, others come in for a specific concern, while some are not entirely sure except they know something does not feel right. The bottom line is you do not have to have a major problem or exact reason to meet with a counsellor. A person wanting to make changes or figure things out is reason enough to come in and talk.
I work with teens, adults, and older adults who tend to be empaths and highly sensitive people (HSPs) who experience anxiety, depression, stress, and overwhelming emotions.
I am an approved provider with ICBC, First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), Arete, and Optima Health.
I look forward to working with you. And I am here whenever you are ready to get started.

In order to be mindful of everyone’s health and well-being during this time, we have decided to close the remaining Art Therapy Open Studios. We encourage you to engage in the creative process on your own as a mindful activity to decrease any stress or anxiety you may be feeling at this time. As we have done in the studio – set up your creative space, put on some relaxing music, have some tea and snacks on hand, and let yourself be present in the moment letting any outside worries wash away. This is your safe space. Keep practicing skills that help you find your calm center, engage in an activity that makes you feel good at least once a day, be mindful of information overload; and get your information from reliable sources. Also, it’s okay to be scared and anxious so reach out for help if you need it.
NEW EVENT for 2020! I will be co-facilitating an Art Therapy Open Studio every Wednesday January – March 2020. Come and join us for a creative and relaxing evening. Tickets can be purchased at: http://arttherapyopenstudio.eventbrite.com
